Help build Sacred Sound.
Sacred Sound is being built as a unique space for movement, recovery, contrast therapy, community, and deep listening. This private fundraising page gives supporters a few meaningful ways to help fund the launch while receiving real value in return.
What to expect from Sacred Sound in return for your early support:
- A Device Detox environment: At Sacred Sound we believe a major player in our health is our ability to stay focused on the task at hand. When you book a session with us, you will be asked to check your phone/devices at the front desk and let your people know they can call our landline in case of emergency.
- The MVMT LAB: Functional yoga, strength, and rotational movement classes designed to help you move better, sustainably get stronger all over, and build long-range resilience.
- The SPA: A simple courtyard contrast therapy lounge in a garden-like setting to reset your nervous system and support recovery.
- Red Light Recovery Rooms: Private cozy rooms designed for nervous system recovery, redlight relaxation, reflection, creativity, and deep listening. Each room features Vintage Vinyl / CD libraries and playback systems to enjoy screen & bluetooth free music listening. Or choose to enjoy our sound bowls and tuning forks. These spaces are great solo or with a small group up to 4.

Why We’re Building This
Chrys Johnson
Chrys Johnson is a longtime music industry professional, guitarist, and movement teacher based in Chico, California. Over the past two decades he has built a career at the intersection of music, creativity, and human connection—working behind the scenes with some of the most respected artists and companies in modern music. His work has included roles in artist relations and product development with companies such as EMG Pickups, Ampeg/Mackie, Jim Dunlop, and most recently Kiesel Guitars.
Along the way he has collaborated with an extraordinary range of musicians including Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), Devin Townsend, Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Steve Vai, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Masvidal (Cynic), Slash, Andy James (FFDP), Jeff Beck, Fred Armisen (SNL, Portlandia), Jack Black, TOOL, Eykah Badu, Meshuggah, Peter Frampton, Glenn Hansard (Swell Season), Ani DiFranco, Snarky Puppy...the list goes on and on ...and many others across the progressive rock and metal world.
Parallel to his music industry career, Chrys has spent more than a decade studying and teaching yoga, breathwork, and functional movement. With over 1,000 hours of training and years of teaching experience, his classes blend modern postural yoga, mobility work, rope flow, kettlebells, and walking mechanics to help people build strength, resilience, and awareness in their bodies.
These two worlds—music and movement—have now come together in Chrys’s newest project: Sacred Sound, a health and wellness center designed to help people reconnect with themselves and their community.
Sacred Sound will combine a movement lab, contrast therapy spa (sauna and cold plunge), and intimate listening rooms where music can be experienced in a deeper, more intentional way. The goal is simple but powerful: create a space where people can train, recover, listen, reflect, and grow together.
This fundraiser will help bring Sacred Sound to life. With the support of an incredible community of musicians, artists, and friends contributing masterclasses and mentorship sessions, this campaign is about more than launching a space—it’s about building a hub for creativity, wellness, and connection in Chico.
Jeremy Schulz
Jeremy Schulz, also known as the Wandering Monk, is a Northern California native originally from Redding, California whose life path has taken him through music, endurance adventure, and personal transformation. He first met Sacred Sound founder Chrys Johnson in the early 2000s in an unlikely place—the break room at a Whole Foods in Seattle during Chrys’s first year living in the city.
What began as a casual conversation quickly turned into an instant friendship when the two discovered a shared love of heavy music—especially bands like Pantera, Meshuggah & Candiria. Not long after that meeting, Chrys saw Jeremy play drums for the first time and immediately knew they had to start a band together. The result was ONLY HUMAN, a band the two co-founded that remained active from 2001 to 2008. Through several lineup changes over the years, Jeremy and Chrys remained the creative core of the project—writing songs, booking shows, arranging studio sessions, and planning tours. That era forged a lasting friendship rooted in creativity, discipline, and the experience of building something meaningful together from the ground up.
Jeremy’s life has continued to evolve in extraordinary ways. Known today as the Wandering Monk, he once walked more than 3,100 miles across America, a transformative journey that led to his story being featured on The Joe Rogan Experience and inspired the publication of his book about the experience.
In recent years, Jeremy has reinvented himself once again—this time as a 50+ bodybuilder and elite fitness coach. Specializing in strength training and precision nutrition, he now helps men over 40 lose fat, build muscle, and reclaim control of their bodies and mindset. His path is anything but ordinary—and neither are his results—earning him a reputation as a true anomaly in the world of fitness and personal transformation.
Given their decades-long friendship and shared history of creating and building projects together, it’s no surprise that Jeremy has joined Chrys once again—this time helping bring the vision of Sacred Sound Health & Wellness Center to life. What began with music and friendship over twenty years ago has now evolved into a new chapter: helping create a space dedicated to strength, health, resilience, and community in Northern California.
